Wrap-Up: The Roast of Ian Douglas Terry @ The Sydney

Omaha’s amateur and quasi-professional comics put on (probably) their best show ever last Thursday night. The house at The Sydney was packed, and the laughter was frequent and guttural. The subject was Ian Douglas Terry, and more specifically, how he is a “narcissistic blowhard whose talent will never justify his ego.” Well, that’s how fellow comic Nick Allen put it.
He was called “The Uncle Tom of Hipsters.” He was accused of “leaching off the success of local musicians who he thinks he’s friends with.”
“Ian Terry is a nobody that wants to be a somebody, so he got anybody to roast him in front of everybody,” Richard Reese said.
Yes, it was a night of bruised egos. But Terry took the heat magnanimously. He should, after all he is the one (and perhaps the only person in history) who organized his own roast to celebrate his 30th trip around the sun.
“It was a blast, one of the best comedy shows ever,” Terry said, after the show. “The crowd and the roasters were all amazing. I’m the best person in the world and I deserve a trophy.”

Oh yeah, I was meaning to add that. And plug the next shows, too.
There is the premiere of "Get Up, Stand Up" at Louis Bar & Grill tomorrow (Wednesday the 9th). It will be a weekly open-mic, and ladies get cheap beer because it's ladies night.
Then on February 16th you can check out Fancy Party at the Waiting Room.
And you should totally check out the continuation of "Dr. Quirk's Comedy Experiment" with Part II at The Bourbon Theater on February 22nd.
Any more, Ian?
Our next show isn't until April. So you've done well.
