False Spring with Fash Flood
Fashion blogger and Omahype contributor Sarah Lorsung Tvrdik (aka Fash Flood) is the best kind of beauty: an angel face with impeccable style and a heart of gold. When she’s not helping us sift through the full spectrum of the fashion world (from runway riches to thrift store goldmines), she works for Goodwill Industries. In her latest fashion spread, she shares a look that’s perfect for early spring. The bold strokes of color against the gray canvas of her wool cape — she’s a painted us a portrait that perfectly mimics the daffodils and tulips peeking through lingering patches of snow into the steel-cold Omaha sky. As I write this, not even 2 hours after taking these photos there is a blanket of snow covering the ground in my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska (Photographic proof).
This is what I like to call a false spring.
My tulips are were starting to come up in my backyard. I helped them along with a few premature blooms. Haven’t you ever heard of fancy lady glove flowers? They’re rare, but can be found just south of midtown Omaha.
Back to talking about my look, I found one of the sold out online American Apparel clutches in out Omaha store recently. If you call the store, they can probably send you one, granted they’re not sold out now. I love it, and it looks ever better if you’re holding two, in different sizes and colors. I’m going to be back to get the very large version in black soon. It’s big enough to hold magazines!
My friend Mark gave me a tip about a whole lot of gloves at one of our local thrift stores, Thrift World. He told me on a friday night, at our friend Bill’s photography show opening and I went Saturday morning to get them. I found 4 pairs with the tags on. They seem like they’re 1950′s but I can’t be sure. This pair was my favorite, they’re almost metallic but just really shiny and are positively tiny.
Now, the pièce de résistance, one of my favorite headbands, by designer Jennifer Loiselle. If you visit Jennifer’s Etsy account, you’ll find a very different variety of accessories. Her current range is full of laser cut glass, acrylic and silver mirrored Perspex, and it’s beautiful! I want this crown, otherwise known as The Beaton gold mirror headband and necklace. It does double duty! Love.
The Triple Bubble gold mirror headband and necklace is also a favorite of mine from her current collection. It’s an eye-catcher for sure. Looking forward to Jennifer’s future collections, maybe a new one for spring?
