‘Mending’ with the Omaha Women’s Art Collective
The first time I had been to Bancroft Street Market a few years ago, I knew that the gallery would be the scene of many special events, both in art and music. “Mending: The Premiere of the Women’s Art Collective” presented a show of more than 15 female artists/musicians in a variety of media last Friday, May 13th. Organized by the collective, the show was carefully curated by the group as a whole, with the process beginning last November. The members used the book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron as a unifying thread throughout the process.
If you’re interested in viewing the show (currently open by appointment only) or would like to join the Omaha Women’s Art Collective, contact Natalie Dixon at 310-963-1239. They are looking to expand and are starting off strong and supportive and are talent-rich.
Below are selected photos from “Mending.” Participating artists included: Natalie Dixon, Kristin Lubbert, Shelley Smith,Rachel Tomlinson Dick, Melissa Amstutz, Brookelynn Musil, Caitie Caughey, Rebecca Lee, Josephine Joyner, Lindsay Trapnell, Shannon Carroll, Nicolette Biskamp, Jenna Morrison.
