TGIOFF: October 2011
Thank Great Cesar’s Ghost and the Great Pumpkin — it’s once again Omaha First Friday, where several galleries in the Old Market and throughout Omaha open their doors simultaneously to art patrons from across the metro. Welcome newcomers Bancroft Street Market and the W. Dale Clark Library as they both host works by local artists. OFF highlights include “MSSNGR” at The New BLK, featuring design work on canvas by Steve Gordon (aka RDQLUS Creative). “MSSNGR” also promises to be an interactive experience for all those who attend, so keep your smartphones on the ready. Also, don’t miss ceramic works by North Carolinian Eric Knoche at Anderson O’Brien and the collaborative group exhibition going up at Peerless Gallery at Midtown Crossing. And, for the second month in a row, it’s all capped off with a WRAP party at the House of Loom, where Steve Gordon/RDQULUS mans the turntables alongside other resident DJs.

OMAHA FIRST FRIDAY, OCTBER 7th, 2011:
“MSSNGR”
1213 Jones Street
OFF reception: Friday, October 7th from 7-11 p.m.
About the exhibit (courtesy of the New BLK)
‘MSSNGR’ is as much a showcase of thought as it is design. Over the past 6 years, Omaha Native Steve Gordon’s personal and professional life have run a parallel that resulted in one entity; RDQLUS. The show will include original large and small format design work on canvas, multimedia pieces and selections from his influential “Dropshots” series of photography shot lovingly—and completely—on his iPhone.
Gordon runs an independent creative operation by the name of ‘RDQLUS Creative’, doing work as an identity & brand designer/creative director, author, strategic thinker and most recently fashion designer with the custom imprint, RGC (RDQLUS Goods & Cloth). He has crafted a personal brand by channeling his constant consumption of sub-cultures into succinct narratives in the form iconography, typography and a consistent pictorial commentary delivered through an innovative combination of professional design, social interaction and good old-fashioned hustle.
