MONDAY, JANUARY 23rd
- The Waiting Room in Benson hosts round 3 of the Tiny Car Racing Association. What does that mean? Hot Wheels, orange track, beers, buds and fun.
- Meanwhile, Mitch Gettman says farewell to Omaha before he heads to Chicago to further his musical career. Catch him at Slowdown.
- As always, the Barley Street Tavern in Benson hosts its weekly singer-songwriter open mic.
- Likewise, head to Duffy’s Tavern in Lincoln for their weekly comedy workshop.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 24th
- Quiz me, baby: Two pub quizzes tonight — one at Slowdown in North Downtown and another at the Sydney in Benson.
- A duo from Springfield MO called Paper Anchors are at the Barley Street Tavern in Benson.
- Bent Life — a Nebraska-based hardcore group — celebrate the release of their latest 7-inch at the Waiting Room.
- Shoot Your Mouth Off at the Hideout Lounge (open mic for comedians/songwriters/etc.).
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25th
- Funnyman with a late (late) night talk show Craig Ferguson is at the Orpheum Theater.
- Looking for a (free) local alternative to the pricey Ferguson show? OK Party Comedy provides live commentary to “Superman II” a la MST3K at the Waiting Room
- In Lincoln? Catch The Dirt Daubers (featuring members of The Legendary Shack Shakers) at the Bourbon Theatre.
- Meanwhile, House of Loom hosts “Good Speakers,” a monthly DJ series hosted by Bad Speler (aka Darren Keen).
- Local tunes: Catch Family Picnic, Betsy Wells and The Benningtons at Slowdown.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 26th
- Evan Dando and his band (The Lemonheads) return to the Waiting Room to perform their ’90s-definative hit record It’s a Shame About Ray from front to back.
- Fun: Meanwhile, it’s Pecha Kucha night at Slowdown.
- Not so unlike Pecha Kucha, another installment of Ignite Lincoln takes place at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln. Stick around for a FREE show from El Valiente.
- A few blocks away, Orion Walsh shares a bill with Midwest Dilemma and Manny Coon at the Zoo Bar (Lincoln).
- Over at House of Loom, Reece Vavrick presents an emotional set dedicated to the ’80s tunes featured in 2002 hit video game “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.”
- It’s you last chance to catch “The Big Lebowski” at Film Streams.
- Catch “Shame” at the Dundee Theatre.
- Jazz: Murray/Bailie/Towne play at the Side Door Lounge. Free.

- The Killigans headline a show at Barley Street Tavern in Benson.
- Contemporary dance: Parsons Dance are at the Orpheum Theater.

- Meanwhile, Abandon Kansas play at Slowdown.
- Still yet, Goo — perhaps Omaha’s most popular DJ-fuled dance party — returns to House of Loom.
- More DJs/dancing: The sixth installment of TMNT techno (yes — ninja turtles) goes down at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln.
- “Urbanized” opens at Film Streams.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th
- Head to Hot Shops Art Center to see the OEA Awards Visual Arts Nominee Showcase before it closes.
- Catch UUVVWWZ at DP Muller Photography in Benson. Also on the bill: The Wayward Little Satan Daughters and Howard.
- Meanwhile, “Band Build” goes on at the Waiting Room — a benefit for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha featuring Rock Paper Dynamite, Gus & Call and more.
- Learn the Argentine tango at House of Loom. Stick around afterwards for music provided by DJ Brent Crampton.
- Er, Cold Steel headline a show at Slowdown.
