FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17th
5 p.m.
- Friday Afternoon Club: Enjoy FAC with the gents from Antiquarium Records as they spin some of their favorite vinyl at House of Loom. 5-8 p.m., FREE.
7 p.m.
- Head down to The New BLK gallery in the Old Market for “Face FWD,” featuring 200 or so sketches by local street artist Gerard Pefung. 7-10 p.m., FREE.
7:30 p.m.
- Get cultured: It’s the premiere of Opera Omaha’s production of Rossini’s beloved opera, “The Marriage Contract.” It goes down at the Scottish Rite Hall in downtown Omaha. $10-$79.
9 p.m.
- Slow jamz: Catch K-Ci and JoJo at the Civic Music Hall. $32-$64.
- Young and hip: Awkward kitsch rap you thing? Leslie & The LYs headline a show at the Waiting Room. $10.
- Aging and hip: Stephen Malkmus (former Pavement frontman) and his band The Jicks return to Slowdown. What is one percent of one? Oh never mind! $18.
- Hip in Lincoln: Netherfriends (via Chicago) share a bill with Green Trees at the Bourbon Theatre. $5 or $7.

- Arty: Brush up on your painting skills with Jean Mason of the Omaha Creative Institute. $35. 10 a.m.-noon.

- You’re hungry, grab lunch at Marrakeh Gourmet on N. 33rd Street. It’s REALLY GOOD.
2 p.m.
- Take the kids: Go see the ever-so-charming flick “Fantastic Mr. Fox” at Film Streams.
7 p.m.
8 p.m.
- Dance the night away at “loom Waves Brasil” at House of Loom. This promises to be a packed house, so the earlier you get there the better. 8 p.m.-2 a.m., 21+, $8.
- Would you rather watch someone dance than dance yourself? Well, catch Shinichi Iova-Koga from San Francisco-based contemporary dance outfit inkBoat performing at at the OM Center. $10.
9 p.m.
- Folk’s music: Head to the Barley Street Tavern in Benson for Bad Country and the debut of Dead Leaves (featuring Nashville-based artist Travis Egnor). Read our interview with Egnor. $5, 21+.
