The Blue Barn Theatre presents their latest production, “In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play,” by Sarah Ruhl, running February 16th through March 10th.

In the twilight of the Victorian age, a gentleman doctor has innocently invented a most extraordinary and mysterious device for treating “hysteria.” When his increasingly despondent wife overhears the strange sounds emanating from the operating theatre and sees patients leaving in the pink of health, she is compelled to investigate – even if it means throwing over domesticity for desire. Ranging from the tender to the farcical, Ruhl’s stylish comedy pulses and hums along as it dispels old-fashioned notions of female sexuality, intimacy and marriage
at the dawn of the age of electricity.
