Lit Undressed Presents: Fashion in Literature

Come to House of Loom this Wednesday night to witness a true dichotomy: nude figure models come to life as they read passages in famous literature detailing the delicate and delectable lines, folds and textures of fashion. Here’s more from their official invitation:

Lit Undressed is a performance project with an emphasis on literature beyond the naked. Traditionally silent nude figure models become storytellers as they read classic excerpts, poems and selected writings from contemporary authors on the theme of Fashion in Literature, allowing their voices to be heard and bodies to be read.

For this upcoming event October 19, 8pm at House of Loom, Lit Undressed adopted the lit fest art exhibit theme of literary objects, specifically exploring fashion—from the Tin Woodman’s heart of silk and sawdust in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, to Jay Gatsby’s pink rag of a suit in The Great Gatsby, to Jane Eyre’s grey and black gowns and Virginia Woolf’s explanation of fashion in Orlando.

Over 100 submissions were received from writers from around the nation to have their work read for the event and some twenty were accepted from writers including Timothy Schaffert, Bruce Koborg, Fran Higgins, Laura Madeline Wiseman and more.  In addition, classic literature excerpts and poems will be read (with permission where needed) including work by Evie ShockleyBilly Collins, Virginia Woolf and more.

In addition local artists who participated in Drink n Draw Omaha’s Fashion Undressed event are showing during the show including artists Eric Guerrero,Gerard PefungDan Richters and more.

The performance is open to audiences 21 and older with a $10 ticket price for all seats.  Proceeds to benefit (downtown) omaha lit fest.  For more information visit facebook.com/litundressed.
