Heartless Bastards w/ These United States
The Heartless Bastards are a group from Cincinnati often described in terms like “garage” and “sounds-like-the-black-keys.” Well, there is some truth to that but still this quartet is out there carving a name for themselves playing music that is plain and simple (good) American rock ‘n’ roll. Can’t front on that. Also be sure to [...]
Secret Weapon
Touted as the best ’80s cover band in the area, the fellas in Secret Weapon are not afraid to bust out some Billy Idol, Scorpions or The Cure. That’s not to say they won’t bust out jams from the ’90s, ’70s or beyond in the same exact light. Check Secret Weapon out on Facebook.
Rachel Platten w/ Madi Diaz
Rachel Platten is a pop singer-songwriter perhaps best known for her Billboard Top 40 single, “1,000 Ships.” Well, she’ll be in the flesh at the Waiting Room in Omaha for an all ages early show on Saturday, May 26th
Saturn Ascends w/ The Zero Sum, Black on High, & Through the Stone
Saturn Ascends are four local musicians, all originally from Des Moines, who’ve put together their best renditions of Tool songs for, uh, eager ears. Here’s some classic Tool:
Son Volt
Son Volt is spearheaded by none other than Jay Farrar, one of the leaders of the alt-country movement in the early ’90s when he (along with childhood friend Jeff Tweedy) sang and wrote songs for now-legendary band Uncle Tupelo. To date, Farrar and Son Volt have released eight albums since their inception in 1994.
Anders Osborne
Anders Osborne has lived the life of one of those legendary bluesmen — left home at the age of sixteen to travel the world playing music before eventually settling in New Orleans (he still calls Louisiana home today). He’s out on the road supporting his 11th album, Black Eye Galaxy.
Xiu Xiu w/ Dirty Beaches, & Father Murphy
Xiu Xiu have existed in various forms for a decade now, but one thing is for certain — they group is always striving to create provocative sounds that are everything except trendy. Rather they are completely original in their artistic vision, love it or hate it.
Deer Tick w/ Turbo Fruits, & Teenage Mysticism
A well-traveled and well-recieved alt-country band based out of Providence, Rhode Island, Deer Tick are supporting two recent released: their fourth LP Divine Providence and their latest EP Tim. They’re one of those bands you say to yourself, “I’ve heard these guys before,” and really it’s because you listen to too much NPR. http://www.deertickmusic.com
Jet Life Tour 2012 feat. Curren$y
Oftentimes stony rapper Curren$y headlines the 2012 Jet Life Tour with support from The Jets, Smoke DZA, Fiend 4 Da Money, Corner Boy P, Trademark and Young Roddy. More info
Kris Lager Band w/ Funk Trek
For those who don’t know, Lager and his band have played more than 1,000 shows over the past decade, both locally and nationwide. They even had a stint backing guitar guru Mato Nanji in Indigenous. If there’s a harder working band in Nebraska, I haven’t met them.
